At this opening concert of the Organsummer in Hallgrimskirkja Matthías Harðarson organist and Guðný Charlotta Harðardóttir pianist will perform pieces by Widor, Franck, Dupré, Sigurður Sævarsson and Alain.

Matthías Harðarson began his musical studies at the age of 10 and studied at the music school in Vestmannaeyjar. His teachers there were Gíslína Sól Jónatansdóttir, Guðmundur H. Guðjónsson and Kittý Kovács. He also played the saxophone with Stefán Sigurjónsson. In 2016 Matthías graduated with a Church organist diploma. In 2020 Matthías graduated from Listaháskóli Íslands with a BA degree in Church music and a Kantor diploma from the Music School of the National Church in Iceland. His teachers there were Björn Steinar Sólbergsson, organ, Magnús Ragnarsson, Choir conducting, Guðný Einarsdóttir, Eyþór Ingi Jónsson, and Lára Bryndís Eggertsdóttir in liturgical organ playing. In 2017 Matthías graduated as a Marine engineer. Matthías has recently finished a Masters’s degree from The Royal Academy of Music where Kristian Krogsøe, Lars Rosenlund Nørremark, and Ulrik Spang-Hanssen were his teachers.

Guðný Charlotta Harðardóttir started her music education at 6 years old in Vestmannaeyjar. When she was 19 she moved to the capital and finished her final exam at the music school in Garðabær. After that, she finished 3 years of bachelor's education at The Icelandic University of the Arts where she focused on piano pedagogy. Guðný Charlotta has now finished her master's degree from the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark where she had been studying since the autumn of 2020.

Guðný has performed many solo pieces from the classical repertoire but has put more focus on chamber music and accompaniment. She has also been active in playing pieces from the Icelandic modern repertoire. She has participated in orchestral projects together with The Youth Symphony Orchestra. Along with studying in Denmark, Guðný has also played concerts in Finland and Sweden.

Guðný Charlotta has organized concerts herself, for example, a concert dedicated to Sigfús Halldórsson. She also performed arrangments from Atli Heimir Sveinsson of songs from Vestmannaeyjar together with Trillutríó. That trio consist of Vera Hjördís Matsdóttir singer, Símon Karl Melsteð Sigurðarson clarinet and Guðný Charlotta piano.

Guðný Charlotta has received funds and awards for her piano playing and her independent projects.
