Eyþór Ingi Jónsson (1973) attained the Cantor Diploma from Reykjavík Church Music School, Iceland in the spring of 1998. Then followed study at the Piteå Acadamy of Music in Sweden, four years in the Church Music Department and then three years study in the Concert Organist Department, with professor Hans-Ola Ericsson. In addition I had lessons with Gary Verkade among other specialists.

Eyþór Ingi has also taken part in a number of masterclasses throughout Europe. In addition to organ study he has devoted himself to the study of choir conducting under professor Erik Westberg.

Eyþór Ingi has taught various subjects and has been a visiting tutor at The Icelandic Arts Academy. He performs regularly, and has held more than one hundred solo concerts both in Iceland and abroad. Eyþór has taken part in a broad range of chamber concerts, and has been featured in a number of recordings with various artists.

Eyþór Ingi has both conducted and performed as soloist with the Northern Iceland Symphony Orchestra. His present post is organist at the Akureyri Church. He also founded and conduct the Hymnodia Chamber Choir. His speciality is music from the seventeenth century as well as contemporary music and improvisation, both for organ, and with singers.He is Musical Director of the Holar Baroque Festival, The Akureyri Church Music Festival Week and the Akureyri Church Summer Concert season. He was made Town Artist of the Year 2011-2012.
