The Choir of Hallgrímskirkja


The Choir of Hallgrímskirkja was founded in the autumn of 2021. The choir consists of over 50 singers that sing both in services and concerts in Hallgrímskirkja. The choir has a wide range of repertoire and has put emphasis on promoting new Icelandic choir music. The Choir of Hallgrímskirkja premiered 5 new pieces by Icelandic composers last year that were commissioned by the choir. The choir has performed with The Icelandic Symphony Orchestra in Hallgrímskirkja and has a fruitful collaboration with Brák Baroque Ensemble. Their last collaboration project was on the First Sunday of Advent and was dedicated to the music of Händel and Telemann on original instruments.

Upcoming events:

Inauguration Concert of the Frobenius Choir Organ
The choir organ will be reinaugurated on Whit Sunday, May 19th 2024 at 11hrs. On the same day there will be a concert at 17hrs. including music for two organs and choir. Donations are accepted.
