Children´s Organ festival

On Saturday, October 1, there will be a family concert under the title "Children's Organ festival", where Guðný Einarsdóttir and Sigrún Magna Þórsteinsdóttir will play the most famous organ pieces in history along with well-known songs from movies and Eurovision hits.
The organ festival is free and everyone is welcome, young and old!

Guðný Einarsdóttir graduated from the department of musical education at the Reykjavík College of Music and as an organist from the Music School of the National Church in Iceland Guðný studied church music at the Danish Royal Academy for Music in Copenhagen and alongside her studies conducted, and was one of the founders of, the chamber choir Staka.
After graduating Guðný was the organist at the church of the Danish congregation in Paris alongside further studies in organ performance.
Guðný has given many concerts at home and abroad, performed as a soloist, accompanist and conductor, and taught both piano and organ performance. She has published two CDs of organ works one of which, the combined organ works of the Icelandic composer Jón Nordal, was nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards. Guðný wrote a children's book named Sally Piper's big tootle day, a musical adventure for children about the wondrous world of the pipe organ. Guðný is currently the organist at Háteigskirkja church in Reykjavík and is the conductor of Kordía, the choir of Háteigskirkja.

Sigrún Magna Þórsteinsdóttir studied music at the Akureyri and Reykjavík Schools of Music, the Icelandic National School of Church Music and at the Royal Academy of Music in Denmark. There she gained her Masters Degree under the tutelage and guidance of Professor Bine Bryndorf. Areas of special interest within the course included: directing children's choirs, the musical development in children and working with musically gifted children.
Sigrún has directed both mixed adult voice and children's choirs in Reykjavík, Copenhagen and Akureyri. She is currently organist at Akureyri Church, Iceland and at
Möðruvallaklaustur Church. She also teaches at the Akureyri Music School. She has held many concerts as solo organist, accompanist and choir director in Iceland and abroad. She has attended many courses and masterclasses given by eminent musicians, including Olivier Latry, Hans-Ola Ericsson, Michael Radulescu and Mattias Wager.
Sigrún has organised and taught many music courses for parents of infants and babies. She is also the manager of both the "Summer Concerts in Akureyri Church" programme and also of the "Akureyri Church Arts Week" Sigrún sings alto with the North Icelandic Chamber Choir.
