Kjartan Jósefsson Ognibene is a master student at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen (DKDM) and has just completed his MA exam in organ and church music.

He began taking piano lessons at the age of 6 and graduated in 2012 under the guidance of Guðrún Dalía Salómonsdóttir from the Music school of Garðabær. In the autumn of 2015, he began his studies at the National Church Music School of Iceland under the guidance of Björn Steinar Sólbergsson and Eyþór Ingi Jónsson, among others. He graduated as a Church Organist in the spring of 2017 and moved to Copenhagen to enroll at DKDM in the autumn of 2018. There he has received guidance from Hans Fagius, Monica Melcova, Yuzuru Hiranaka, Søren Christian Vestergaard and Mads Høck.

In Denmark and Iceland, Kjartan has played numerous concerts, both as part of his studies, as well as performing solo concerts in several churches. In 2017, he performed two solo concerts; one in Vídalínskirkja and one in Hafnarfjarðarkirkja. His first semester in DKDM, he was invited to perform a joint concert with his teacher, renowned organist Yuzuru Hiranaka, in Skt. Johannes church. In the summer of 2021, Kjartan performed a solo concert in Hallgrímskirkja and in the summer of 2022 he was invited to perform a solo concert in Vejleå kirke in Denmark. In the period between 2020-2022, he held the position of assistant organist at the magnificent Grundtvigs kirke, including performing regular solo concerts at the church.
