Join us for Sálmafoss in Hallgrímskirkja on Reykjavik Culture Night, a joyful and creative celebration of hymns.
From 2–6 PM on Saturday, August 23, Hallgrímskirkja opens its doors with a vibrant program dedicated to the hymn. The event was first initiated in 2007 by Hörður Áskelsson, former Director of Music for the National Church of Iceland and long-time organist at Hallgrímskirkja.
The program includes: Congregational singing, choir performances, organ music and improvisation, hymn preludes, children's choirs and church choirs
Host: Rev. Irma Sjöfn Óskarsdóttir, parish priest at Hallgrímskirkja
Children’s Program | 2:00–4:00 PM
A special children’s program will be offered inside the church, where kids and families are invited to participate in fun and engaging activities. Among the highlights: children can make and decorate their own Hallgrímskirkja crowns.
Come and experience the living tradition of hymn singing in a warm, festive, and inspiring atmosphere. All are welcome!
