Jesus Calms the Storm

A festive family service to open Hallgrímskirkja’s anniversary week

Sunday, October 18 at 11 am

Families take centre stage as the anniversary week begins.

The Reykjavík Girls’ Choir will lead the singing, conducted by Sigríður Soffía Hafliðadóttir. Alma Hlín Þórarinsdóttir, a student at the Reykjavík School of Singing, will perform a solo.

Organist: Björn Steinar Sólbergsson.

Church attendants will assist.

The service will be led by Eiríkur Jóhannsson.

The children’s programme is led by Lára Ruth Clausen, Kristbjörg Katla Hinriksdóttir, Rósa Hrönn Árnadóttir and Ragnheiður Bjarna

The event Hallgrímskirkja Through an Architect’s Eyes: A workshop for children with Alma Sigurðardóttir will then take place in the choir crypt at Hallgrímskirkja after the family service, at approximately 12:15 pm. Alma Sigurðardóttir, a building conservation specialist and author of the children’s book Byggingarnar okkar, will show the children Hallgrímskirkja from different perspectives and explore its history, from idea to reality. After the tour, participants will step into an architect’s shoes and design their own building.

Register for the workshop by emailing vidburdir@hallgrimskirkja.is

All events during anniversary week are free.

The programme is available on the church website: www.hallgrimskirkja.is
