 Magnús Ragnarsson studied at the Reykjavík College of Music, the Music School of the National Church in Iceland, and the Gothenburg Music Academy in Sweden. Following graduation, he further studied choral conducting at Uppsala University. He is Organist at Langholtskirkja in Reykjavík where he conducts Langholtskirkja Choir. He is also the conductor of the Philharmonic Choir of Iceland. In 2006–2012, he was the conductor of Hljómeyki Chamber Choir, and he conducted Melodia Chamber Choir in 2007–2017.  He was Chorus Director at the Icelandic Opera in 2016–2023. Magnús Ragnarsson teaches choral conducting at the Iceland Academy of the Arts, and at the Music School of the National Church in Iceland.
